Green Building
Although green has recently become a buzz word, Treetop Builders has been building energy efficient, green homes since 1989. Working closely with Efficiency Vermont, many of our projects have achieved a Five Star Energy Rating. Listed below are some green building methods we use.
Green Parameters
- Utilize highly energy efficient structurally insulated panels (SIPS)
- Incorporate recycled building materials such as antique flooring and salvaged barn timber frames
- Build foundations using insulated concrete forms (ICFS)
- Stress the importance of house siting to maximize solar gain
- Use locally grown, sustainably harvested materials whenever possible
- Encourage the installation of highly efficient boilers, wood and pellets stoves, lighting fixtures and appliances
- Recycle all construction debris that can be recycled before it goes into the dumpster
- Promote the use of the many green products available
